I came across the paintings of Daniel Castan, and was directly very impressed! Made with Acrylic, he uses thick layers of paint, which make you feel the energy of the city. Great colors, great atmosphere!

Happy 2012! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and is ready for a brand new year! The date , january first,  comes for a lot of people with the urge to make a list. New Years resolutions, new goals, things you want to achieve in the new year, habits you want to get rid off.. It’s like that date gives you the chance to start over, do better. Personally I started wondering whether making lists is really that helpful. I’m extremely good in making lists, and re-writing my lists, (and again)  but not very good in actually doing whats on those lists..  Making lists actually gives me the chance to push things forward. But think about it: When you put something on your list, it’s probably not a good idea, a good idea you WANT to start today! My New Years Resolution: no more lists..

Sometimes it weren’t the Indian, but people from other nations who really made my day.  Seeing this Japanese travel group gathering around two Indian guys fixing their turban (these guys knew how to make good money;) was hilarious. These small people were almost invisible behind at least two or three enormous cameras, a bag full of lenses at so much gear I was surprised they could drag all that stuff along. At the same time I wondered if they enjoyed their holiday right there in India, or will the fun begin when they are back home behind their computer going through those  ten thousand pictures…

The most colorful country I’ve ever been to.. India! An incredible place, maybe or probably because it’s so different from what I know. It’s somehow refreshing to see that they do everything different. How they wash their cloths, take a bath, eat, smile, say yes (or no you have to guess) but most of all that they do everything out in the open. We are used to some privacy, at least with some things we do, but I think in India that word does not have a translation. But crazy enough, although I can’t imagine people doing their laundry, washing themselves or the dogs in the Hudson, being on the streets in India it felt like life is pure and honest. Because they live life together.

It’s around seven thirty when the sun is almost down and the light hits in. Golden reflections in all those glass buildings and the hudson. Pretty colors!

These stairs..You see them everywhere throughout the city and they make me curious! Wondering who is living there, above who, and what their story is… I never have those questions when I see a square grey apartment building, but these houses with these stairs make me wanna go up, thinking that behind the stairs must be mysterious stories…
